A few days ago we had a late lunch at Denver’s. Our daughter from CA was with us. She’s been on KETO for a couple years. I suggested she have Egg plant Parmesan. She mentioned it was probably battered.

Denver overheard her & said, “I can grill it for you”. She said it was the BEST eggplant she had EVER had. And, obviously I don’t need to even mention the salad.

Dropped in today for lunch and were seated in the pool! Five of us had a wonderful lunch in one of the most unique settings for a restaurant anywhere in the world! Of course the ambience could not overshadow our food or service! My wife and our visitor from Austin had the small eggplant parmigiana with a small custom salad, my friend Richard had a custom salad and a custom pasta dish and his wife Marie had a custom small salad and custom pasta and I had the “Bill’s Special” (penne pasta, ricotta cheese, Italian sausage and meat sauce with peppers and red onions topped with Parmesan cheese) preceded by a wonderful, made to order custom salad. All served with fresh garlic butter toast! Wow what a meal! And as American as all of our Italian immigrants! And of course we locked the plates clean!

Juan Manuel, owner, greeter, chef and general all around great guy then shocked us with a dish of mocha bread pudding made his way. Another great way to start our summer in San Miguel. Check it out and maybe we will meet in the pool! See you there!

We were there with friends last night and had a wonderful time.. The food was great and very reasonably priced. Don’t miss the eggplant parmesan, the Italian sausage or the salads.

Denver makes the best eggplant parmigiana that I’ve had, I fact it should be called eggplant steak. I get with custom pasta while my wife is better and gets it with a custom salad. Only issue is that not the same for takeout as becomes a little soggy so we tend to take out sausage or meatballs which are both great.

I’m sure I’m late to the plate on reviewing this restaurant, but I wanted to give a shout out to “LOS OLIVOS de Denver” where I had dinner for the first time last evening.

The food was excellent and the service fast and friendly – the menu was extensive.

I had the meatball sub and a custom built salad…..along with a Malbec…and it was delicious! Sorry to say no leftovers! ☹️?

They are at 20 de enero sur #44. It is a few doors up from Pet Vet on the corner of Stirling Dickinson. Wednesdays – Saturdays.

“DENVERS” food is truly excellent home cooking right out of Italy, even
though he is Mexican. He has a wonderful palate, his portion are big,
prices are very good, quality superb….I btw agree with that eggplant
parmesan, as good as any I had in great restaurants during my 15 year
      residence in florence

      Jackie Brummund
p.s. he will also supply frozen on demand, such as his wonderful
lasagna…7 min prep at home, and you are ready to go

Once again, Juan Manuel, aka “Denver” exceeded our expectations! My wife and I met an old business associate after 45 years! We ran across each other via a post on the Civil List. Needless we had a lot to catch up on but somehow the delicious food that Juan served got in the way. As always my wife had eggplant Parmesan (she says Juan’s is the BEST she has ever had!) plus a custom made salad and a side of pasta with sauce! Our friends had equally tasty dishes of chicken and pasta and custom made salads! But the piece de resistance was the dish Juan served me: penne pasta, ricotta cheese, meat sauce and Italian sausage topped with fresh grated Parmesan cheese in addition to my custom mAde and very delicious salad! It is simply the best Italian dish I have ever eaten.

When Juan came to pick up our empty dishes, I observed, once again, all four of us were members of the extremely clean plate plate club! We asked for the check, Juan instead served each couple a delicious tiramisu and two spoons. What could we do? No question about it we licked the cup clean! And then we paid the bill plus a generous tip and gave Juan a hug and a hand shake and promised to be back next week!

Just as a reminder, Denver’s Los Olivos has been on Don Day’s Top Ten List every year since inception except last year when the street in front of the restaurant was torn up. He is back and serving Italian dishes with a passion!

We just returned home from an astonishing nosing dinner for nine at Juan’s Italian Emporium, better known as Los Olivos de Denver! Starting with our custom made salads and a few glasses of red and white wine we were ready for a great meal and Juan did not disappoint us! If my memory is correct, there were two plates of spaghetti with meat balls, two plates of eggplant parmigiana plus penne pasta, one plate of chicken parmigiana, two plates of penne pasta with Juan’s homemade Italian sausage and then I had Bill’s Especial! Starting with perfectly cooked penne pasta, Juan added some ricotta cheese then bolognese sauce plus his homemade Italian sausage and one meatball plus Parmesan cheese on top. Wow was it incredible! I intended to bring home half for tomorrow but my inner diet voice was smothered and I have to confess- I ATE THE WHOLE THING! OK, there I said it, it was so dad-gummed good that I could not resist!

It you are hungry; if you like great, homemade, fresh food; if you like Italian; if you like your meal prepared exclusively for you, just the way YOU want it, then Juan’s' Los Olivos de Denver is the best and only place to go in San Miguel! A table for nine was handled very well and we had enough space and just enough time to order and enjoy our meal. BTW you will love the order process that guarantees a “build it your way experience” every time!

Located about 46 steps off Sterling Dickinson at 20 De Enero Sur, #44 the restaurant is so easy to get to that even an old Texan could find it!

And did I mention his wine list has expanded which of course is a good thing if you are a restaurant owner serving Italian food in San Miguel. I know he had a good Malbec and Pinot Grigio plus a couple of other reds as well.

Lastly, if you haven’t figured it out by now, I REALLY, REALLY LIKE AND RECOMMEND Juan’s Los Olivos de Denver to you. He also offers delivery service. Call for reservations at 415-150- 0239 and tell him, ” Bill sent me!” Might be one of the best decisions you have made. And be sure to tell everyone else if you like it as much as I did! Thanks and good eating! Ciao!

We just had a wonderful dinnner at Los Olivos de Denver, 20 de Enero Sur
#44. The menu is Italian, with each item able to be created just as you
want it. I had spaghetti and meatballs, and my husband had stuffed pepper.
      Both were outstanding.

The street is off Sterling Dickenson. The staff is warm and friendly, the
owner right there to be sure your dinner is just like you want it.

Please visit this wonderful restaurant. Don’t miss it.

After months with 20 de Enero being totally torn up, Denver’s wonderful Italian restaurant can again be accessed from Stirling Dickinson, just up a few doors. I was there today and the food is better than ever. Denver is now making his own Italian sausage and after years of looking for authentic Italian sausage, it’s finally here! He is also
selling it for you to take home. Denver’s is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, for lunch and dinner. Get back to some of the best Italian food in San Miguel, and help keep Denver open!
