  • La Mesa Grande gourmet bakery and cafe, corner of Pila Seca and Zacateros.

More than just bread and coffee, La Mesa Grande serves up wood-fired pizza, sandwiches on fresh bread made daily, salads, soup and a wide variety of Mexican craft beer, including the house-made draft beer.

Pizza night on Thursday offers live music and a fun atmosphere.

A contemporary pandería -cafe with excellent pastries, great home-baked sourdough loaves, decent snacks, and a large communal table for neighborly chats. It’s open ’til 10pm on Thursdays for oven pizzas and opens at 9am on Saturdays.

A gourmet all day café/restaurant/bakery, La Mesa Grande is famous for its breads and top notch thin crusted pizzas. Decorated like a Mediterranean rustic eatery, this hip and stylish little gem is ideal to enjoy a wholesome breakfast or brunch. La Mesa Grande also serves a variety of delicious sandwiches, fresh salads, pastries, coffees, beers and rich desserts. The communal tables and the laid-back ambience are good excuses to strike up a conversation with other patrons.

This small indoor (and hipster-ish) café is well-loved for its delicious baked goods – and more. They have a simple breakfast menu featuring items like French Toast prepared with their best-in-San-Miguel breads, and Mexican breakfast staples like huevos rancheros & chilaquiles. Many people go just for the coffee and think of it as the “cool” alternative to Starbucks. They are also open for lunch and early dinner, and their food is simple, fresh & delicious.

La Mesa Grande and Cumpañio are considered by most people to be the two best bread bakeries in San Miguel. La Mesa Grande’s daily offerings include many types of sourdough breads, pan au chocolate, croissants, scones and cinnamon rolls. Flavored boules are available every other day. Upon request, they will make multigrain, whole wheat and rye sandwich loaves, croutons, granola, braided challah, focaccia and hamburger/hot dog buns.
      Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (10 p.m. on Thursdays)
