Casita Linda, a non-profit organization that builds homes for the most needy families in San Miguel de Allende, announced today that it has received a donation of 16 new mattresses and cash from golf professionals and executives of the Professional Golf Tour.

The donations will benefit two families in San Miguel Viejo that have recently received new Casita Linda homes. They are the Ramírez Fajardo family and the Ramírez Ramirez family, owners of Casita Linda houses 125 and 126 respectively. In addition to the mattresses the professional golfers also donated 10,300 pesos and US$80 in cash.

As in previous years the Professional Golf Tour visits local communities during each stage of the tour to learn about the communities’ needs and offer support to people in vulnerable situations. The Professional Golf Tour came to San Miguel for the fifth stage of the 2021 season from July 2-4, 2021, at the Ventanas de San Miguel Golf and Resort.

“We are so grateful for this generous donation from the Professional Golf Tour. Mattresses are one of the best gifts our Casita Linda families could possibly receive. It brings tears to my eyes to think that now, for the very first time, children will sleep on their own mattresses and have their very own pillows! And the cash donations we received will help so much with building our next home and helping yet another family get on a path to a better tomorrow,” said Louise Gilliam, President, Casita Linda, A.C.

“We wish to give special thanks to Fanny Carrillo Peñafiel, Director of Art and Culture at The Mota-Engil Foundation, and Alejandro Quiroz, Director of the Professional Golf Tour, who made these donations possible,” Ms. Gilliam added.

In an emotional ceremony following the delivery of the mattresses, new homeowners Yolanda Fajardo and Guadalupe Ramírez presented the golfers with flowers, and the Professional Golf Tour received a Casita Linda certificate of recognition. The homeowners also created a sign that reads, “True angels really do exist.”

Casita Linda, which means “pretty little house,” is a Mexican non-profit organization founded in 2001. Casita Linda builds homes for families who are among the poorest of the poor in San Miguel in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico.

The Professional Golf Tour, or Gira de Golf Profesional, is a professional sports league. The fifth stage of the 2021 season, the Stage 5 II PRO-AM Tournament, kicked off at the Ventanas de San Miguel Golf and Resort in San Miguel. The tour included the participation of 75 golf professionals.

Mota-Engil Mexico is part of the Mota-Engil Group, a multinational organization founded in 1946 focused on construction and infrastructure management. Mota-Engil has a presence in three continents and 22 countries in Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
