  • Celebrate the U.S. community in Guanajuato, your country’s independence day with a telethon.

    The objective of this television broadcast is to promote citizen participation and community support, the proceeds from the event will benefit 10 thousand children from SanMiguel.

    Associations and organizations of civil society in the municipality of San Miguel Allende prepare for the celebration of the “Independence Day of the United States” on July 4, a telethon that will aim to help 10 thousand children of that locality.

    Nory Contractor, is a member of the “Pro-Niños” board of trustees dedicated to providing medical, dental and psychological care to children and adolescents from economically disadvantaged families in the municipality of San Miguel de Allende every year.

    During his participation in the virtual forum of Cultural Exchange with International Communities in Guanajuato, organized by the Secretariat of Migrants and International Liaison Nory said that, the way to celebrate will have to change in the context of the pandemic by COViD-19.

    Contractor said that, this is a non-profit organization capable of providing high-level health services in a timely and efficient manner, by demonstrating social responsibility and working alongside other social actors and providing leadership to other similar instances.

    Nory said that, the theme promoted by this television broadcast is that each person can help, to do more through their donations, since in 2020 the results of this work were favorable for the children’s community in San Miguel de Allende.

    “Last year, we provided 13,151 services to 7,636 children and adolescents; 2,651 medical consultations; 7,506 dental consultations; 984 psychological consultations; 503 nutrition consultations and one thousand 507 social work consultations”.

    He said that through these services they achieved:

    > 17 thousand 751 dental treatments such as: resins, amalgams, cleanings, extractions, fluoride application, among others.

    > 3 thousand 545 donations of toothpastes and toothbrushes.

    > 2,691 participants in brushing techniques and oral hygiene workshops for children, parents and teachers.

    > One thousand 739 donations of medicines by the dental area.

    > 858 dental floss donations for children and adolescents benefited.

    > 661 beneficiaries in accident prevention sessions given by medical professionals.

    > 6 thousand 845 references of Social Work for therapeutic support such as: rehabilitation, language and stimulation.

    > 6,063 paid therapies.

    > 102 referrals to acute care hospitals in other cities.

    > 212 financial support for transportation, medicines, laboratory tests and other services.

    > Service to children in more than 500 communities within San Miguel de Allende.

    “For all this work we do, we hope that, you have the opportunity to join us this Sunday, there will be a lot of emotion, celebration very American style, we even have a band that plays Rock and I assure you that this will be a very nice show. “

    In this regard, Juan Hernández Secretary of Migrants and International Liaison said that, in the municipality of San Miguel de Allende reside about 12 to 16 thousand U.S. citizens, thanked this community for everything it does in providing its services to the population, as well as to internationalize Guanajuato and with it be the Greatness of Mexico.
