Arturo is a young man passionate about chess, he has been playing this game since he was a child, everyone in his family knows how to play it, which is already part of his life, as a hobby for him. He also has an association in which he gave workshops to children and grandparents.

Together with a group of friends, in 2015 Arturo founded the San Miguel de Allende Chess Club (CASMA) so they are on Facebook, to undertake altruistic actions through chess, in which they gave free workshops to children in homes, such as Don Bosco, where they did several symbolic activities.

They are the first institution formally established in San Miguel de Allende in the field of chess. They held the first international chess festival in San Miguel de Allende, which was held at the Convention Center La CASONA, a very large tournament where some of the best chess players in Mexican associations gathered.

And they have been active with several institutions, recently they collaborated with the Technological University of SMA, they are currently running an active chess workshop. They also gave classes with the school for the deaf and dumb on Umarán street.

Arturo’s intention is to reactivate this mental sport in San Miguel de Allende, to resume with chess workshops, to collaborate with some institutions to make it part of people’s lifestyle.

“To bring it closer to all people, so that they do not see it as something very difficult to practice so that we can see the benefits it has for our children and for ourselves, any person of any age can benefit from playing chess,” he said.

Reactivate CASMA’s social networks, there they have a lot of followers, practically from all over Mexico, and through them they will start to launch some calls so that people start to approach them again, to participate in their events, in their workshops, and in their tournaments.

Arturo also hopes for a good collaboration with municipal and state authorities, support with materials to continue promoting chess, “We trust that the past administration, now with Mauricio Trejo, who is the one with whom we had more support, we trust that it will be that way again”, said the young man.
