  • Empowering Women
    Tuesday, October 8th, 2019 9:30 AM
    Where: Los Arcos
    Address: Stirling Dickenson 27
    Cost: Free

In 1857, workers of the textile industry went on strike in New York City demanding women’s rights. This was the beginning of a movement that, to this day, is still going on. Perhaps no place more than right here in Mexico’s rural communities is the role women play is so important.

The Midday Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende will delve into the significant contributions women make to our greater community this Tuesday with our guest speaker, Carla Maria Cadena Rios. Carla is the Rotary Club’s projects assistant, and she will speak directly on how women are leading these efforts,

The role of women in Mexico these days is awesome. Gone are the days where women only existed to perform house duties. Now, women are working jobs that used to be reserved for men only such as construction, driving public transportation, and managing big enterprises. In the case of Rotary’s projects in the campo, the women of these communities are building dry composting toilets and installing rainwater cisterns. Both of these initiatives are essential to providing a clean, sustainable water source, much-improved hygiene, and safety. These projects have empowered women with a new sense of purpose as they are now acquiring skills and achieving new goals for their communities.

Please come and celebrate the important role women are making within their communities when Carla Maria Cadena Rios presents Empowering Women. Hear about the exciting work they are doing right here within a few miles of our city. Find out why the work they are doing is so vital and important. You’ll be inspired. Doors open at 9 AM, the meeting begins at 9:30 AM with the speaker scheduled between 9:45 and 10:15 AM. We’re located at Los Arcos at #27 Sterling Dickenson
