Christmas Traditions in San Miguel de Allende
The Christmas season is upon us. An evening stroll on the streets bordering the Jardin, with all the festive lights, will certainly put you in the Christmas spirit. But there is a lot more to celebrating Christmas in SMA and we have the right person to tell you all about it.The bestselling author of San Miguel de Allende’s Secrets book series (including a Christmas book) and our city’s top-rated private walking tour guide, Joseph Toone will be our guest speaker on Tuesday, December 18th. Mr. Toone will explain the indigenous and Spanish roots to today’s holiday traditions.
The holiday season in town spans from the celebrations for St. Nicholas and the Virgin of Guadalupe through the Fiesta de los Reyes Magos– The 3 Kings Celebration. The holidays are a grand celebration of the birth of Jesus and one of the loveliest and most culturally active times to be in town.
To understand what goes on this holiday time of year, from the processions to the plays, the piñatas, and paintings, join us for a wry and witty explanation led by Joseph Toone. The San Miguel de Allende Secrets series of books will be available for purchase including two new releases on touring and living here.
Christmas Traditions in San Miguel de Allende, presented by Joseph Toone and hosted by the Mid Day Club of San Miguel de Allende is Tuesday, December 18th from 9 to 10:30AM.
We meet at The San Miguel Essen restaurant, located next to the yellow caboose on Sterling Dickinson. Admission is free plus there is an optional breakfast for 100 pesos.
