Salon San Miguel

The Salon is a continuation of the popular cultural events organized in private residences in the 19th-century in Europe, especially in Paris. In San Miguel they take place in the courtyard of the artsy and unique Casa Sentosa de las Serpientes located in Colonia Lindavista, just up the hill from the Central Bus Station on Calzada Estacion. The Salons happen once a month. The basic format of the Salons is 4 musical sets of 30 minutes each with a short break in between. Every set will have different musicians with a different style of music. The styles can be Mexican, Latin in general, Folk, Popular, Jazz, R & B, Classical, vocal, instrumental etc.

The grand piano will often be used. Every night will be different and every now and then there will be specials where only one group will perform 2 sets of 45 minutes. The gate opens at 6pm and the performances will start around 6:30. The door fee is $500P which will for 60% benefit the performing musicians and 40% will go to SMA children education nonprofits. Beverages: wine, beer, water, coffee and hot tea are free, just visit the bar and let you be served of serve yourself. Feel free to bring your own favorite drink and maybe some snacks. Ice and cups are available at the bar.

The courtyard seats about 50 people and about 20 can be seated on the casita roof terrace which gives an excellent view of the stage downstairs. The casita roof terrace is also an excellent spot for dancing. Don’t forget to visit the 3rd floor roof terrace which has one of the best views of San Miguel. You can reach the top terrace by using the stairs from the casita roof or, if needed with the elevator, which is in the main house.
