  • Zandunga is a country venue which offers live music featuring Gil Gutierrez. Country cooking 15 minutes from San Miguel de Allende, beautiful country venue. Concerts, art exhibits, food & drink. Available for private events.

The Sunday afternoon concerts at Rancho Zandunga are a wonderful chance to experience the country lifestyle while enjoying quality jazz or blues and home-cooked food. Gil Gutíerrez and his wife Rebecca are the hosts. Gil has played guitar in Carnegie Hall as well as toured with jazz bands in the U.S., Latin America, and Europe. What makes this venue unique is the gorgeous setting at his ranch about 15 minutes out of town, much of it hand-built by Gil and friends. The performance space is semi-enclosed with room to dance, and open to the outside tables, where guests enjoy grilled meat, fresh tacos, and quesadillas made to order, salads and one drink.

Concerts are on Sunday afternoons only and advance reservations are required.

I realize many of you may be familiar with Zandunga, a fantastic musical event each Sunday, in scenic ountryside. The music is always great, and the musicians change with almost every concert.

Gil Gutierrez is a brilliant composer and guitarist. He is surrounded by quality musicians of all kinds. His wife Rebecca is a lovely host and makes sure you will have a good experience at Zandunga.

Last Sunday there was a great sax player from Cuba, and the extraordinary pianist Gabriel Hernandez, and the talented young violinist ( sorry, I can’t recall his name.) I believe there were five musicians last Sunday, as well as a special performance from Santiago Martín. You have a real treat in store if you have not yet heard him. He is a singer of flamenco music and he sings Mexican songs in a style of Flamenco that is truly unusual and exciting.

He told me he may be here until April.I believe he may also be performing with Gil Gutierrez and Friends during the week at Mi Casa Bistro inside the Instituto.

Treat yourself to a Sunday afternoon at Zandunga with a delicious lunch, beautiful scenery, very good acoustics, and great beverages of wines, mezcal, margaritas, whatever you fancy.

You may get tickets at Mixta, a store on Pila Seca # 3.

I am not an official promoter of Zandunga, just a citizen of San Miguel who likes to share news of the extraordinary artistic opportunities here.
