    Col. San Rafael
    Tel:
    152 5719

    NEW SCHEDULE!

Friday & Saturday: 6 pm to 12 am
Sunday: 2 pm to 9:30 pm

We will be waiting for you. Open for Lunch and evenings!

    Menu

Take a cab up into the slightly sketchy San Rafael colonia for a meal at Don Felix and you won’t regret it. The place has three main dining areas with fireplaces in two of them, a full bar, and two-dozen birds in cages out front mostly filled with parrots.

The decor is kitschy, but the food is very reasonably priced. It’s not just tacos (although the sample platter is recommended) but also the San Miguel classics: enchiladas del portal, chilis en nogada, and huitlacoche quesadillas. You can get vegetarian versions of many things and they will create any kind of plate you want. They pecan pie is wonderful and the flan is no slouch. It’s real home cooking and family-run. The owner, Don Felix, used to run a very successful street taco stand and many Mexican locals have followed him here.

It’s only open Friday-Sunday and well worth searching out.

I remember when Tacos Don Felix opened their restaurant some 11 years ago…. It has been a family operation and it is always a pleasure to dine there. The food is always delicious and I have enjoyed watching Felix and Gloria’s children and grandchildren grow over the years!

I love “Pollo de la Casa” stuffed with ham and cheese, served with a baked potato and a small salad. At $180 it is a bargain and I usually have to take half of it home. And the “Enchiladas Gloria” are the best I have had around here, and also a bargain at $150!

The restaurant is open only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and they have added a Sunday breakfast/brunch beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The food is very good, the décor eclectic but warm, and the family will make you feel very much “at home”

The dining room is quite large, but only a small outdoor area.

Congratulations on your 8th place finish in the SMART Awards 2017

In eighth place was a restaurant that has been in San Miguel longer than I’ve been in San Miguel though in those early days it was no more than a taco cart. Last year it made its first appearance on the SMART awards countdown, sneaking in at number ten. This year, it moved up to number eight. It’s the very essence of a family restaurant and, despite being in a location that’s hard to find even when you have the address, Tacos Don Felix is now getting the recognition it has long deserved.

Tacos Don Felix is in my opinion one of the loveliest restaurants in town: gentle indirect lighting, plants, birds. In addition to serving delicious food. When the place is full it can be loud, though.

This restaurant has been quite the novelty destination since it opened in 2007. The restaurant is on the first floor of Felix’s home, where he has set up tables and chairs in the living room and dining room, and in his backyard. The food is traditional Mexican fare served at your table by Felix and his family members, including the kids. (The whole family is dressed in little white chef coats with their logo embroidered on them.) Felix is a super friendly host. We really like the enchiladas. A lot of people think they’re the best in town – and they probably are. The tacos are good too, of course. You’ll want to take a taxi to Tacos Don Felix because it’s in a hard to find spot in a neighborhood where there aren’t many businesses. Reservations are highly recommended because this is a very popular place.
