The New Cafe Muro is open and it is beautiful, more upscale but comfortable, friendly staff, great food – They are serving breakfast and lunch. In Dec they will be serving dinner. Three levels – One can go to the third floor terraza with amazing view of centro for drinks and apps and then, go downstairs for dinner.

    Open Daily 9-4 PM

    Address
    Cerrada de San Gabriel 1
    Colonia El Obraje

Directions – Go N on Calzada de la Presa which is off of Calzada de la Luz and go past the school which is on your left. One street before the street where there are cantera workers (NW corner) where you can take a left to go down to Pollo Feliz and Calzada de Aurora – you turn R on this street and go up the hill. At the Y in the road go right and wind up the hill. Yellow building with painted cats on right side near top of hill. Dead ends. Be mindful when parking.

Easier than it sounds to get there.

    Enjoy!

Consistently among San Miguel’s top rated restaurants, MuRo is regularly praised for the warmth of its staff. Breakfast is a highlight and the extensive menu runs from huevos a la mexicana (Mexican-style eggs with onion, green pepper and tomato) to pastries and French toast. Lunchtime offerings include burritos, tortilla soups, salads, and seasonal specials such as chiles en nogada, poblano chilies stuffed with ground meat and served with pomegranate seeds and a cream sauce. A wide variety of freshly made juices are on offer too and there is regularly live music in the tranquil fern-fringed courtyard at lunchtimes.

A must-stop breakfast stop. Serves up everything from chilaquiles con arrachera to french toast and pastries, plus fabulous freshly made juices. Local ingredients are used where possible. Ultra-professional and friendly owner Gerardo provides wi-fi access but, as he’ll tell you, he prefers that clients converse – and even has the day’s weather forecast on a blackboard to get you started. It’s in an inconspicuous spot with a very simple sign. Don’t let that fool you.

We finally returned to have lunch at Cafe Muro. The last time we were there was when they were located in Centro. We loved it then and happy to say the same now. Great food and service. It is worth the search to find them. We will return.

Just came back from Muro’s Restaurant's, every other Friday Night, 4 or 5 course, fixed menu dinner.

Excellent food, on par with what you find in big cities. The service is like you were on a cruise ship.

There was someone singing Jazz Standards on the roof top bar before the meal was serviced. Fun.

And the owner is super nice and joy to talk with, in English or Spanish.

Well worth the trip to Obraje. Call ahead; these are reservation only dinners.

I had the pleasure of enjoying the cuisine and environment of Muro’s restaurant two Friday’s ago. They are open for breakfast and lunch most days, but only serve ‘reservation only’ Friday dinner every other Friday.

This coming Friday we will go again and hopefully as often as they offer this treat. Drinks on the roof at 6:00 followed by a fabulous 4 course dinner downstairs at 7:00.

      Can’t beat it!

The cafe Muro has a beautiful setting. Upstairs has fabulous views of the Parroquia and surrounds.

My friend ordered Enchiladas, extra Avocado, a fresh juice and extra hot sauce and said it was very good but I thought pricey. I had the all inclusive breakfast with over easy eggs, (luke warm) coffee, two tiny sausages and lots of fruit but would really have preferred a hearty breakfast. The “pan” was some soft sweet fluff that was terrible for dipping into my eggs and was far too weet for my taste buds. I guess real bread or even a bollo was not what they considered “pan”. As I said the setting was beautiful and the Mexican dish excellent but do not order the American style breakfast as you will be disappointed.

I will probably go again but order Mexican items.

It is a wonderful new location for a fabulous San Miguel restaurant we have all come to enjoy over many years. Gerardo and Carlos are the same very gracious hosts and their great staff continue to provide attentive service. Fine meals (perhaps possibly even a little more tasty) being made in their expanded “new” kitchen at the same very reasonable prices. Add to all of this some very very cool views and a terrific dining ambiance!

As Gerardo said in his posting it is easy to get there, if you are on foot it is an easy and pleasant walk from Calzada de la Luz or if you are driving or taking a taxi it is most certainly no problem to locate this truly super restaurant. If you are driving park downhill a little, until the proposed parking lot and valet parking become available, and walk up Calle San Gabriel.

Hope that we can all continue to support these fine two men who give much back to our community each year.

      Buen Provecho!
