Cumpanio Price range: $-$$ Located on the corner of Correo is Cumpanio, a restaurant/bar/bakery and serves up food similar to what youd find in a Mediterranean bistro. Imagine more of a European vibe than Mexican.

The sophisticated dining area has an intimate ambiance perfect for couples or a relaxed night out. It is also perfectly positioned at the back of the restaurant, making you forget for a minute that you are right in the bustling center of San Miguel. Some choices from their menu are: yellowfin tuna with grilled vegetables and creamy saffron sauce, beef steak with cambray potatoes and green beans with white wine, or tarte tatin eggplant with goat cheese and basil pesto. After tasting the wonderful food you can head next door to their bakery where you will find an array of freshly-made breads, cakes and pan dulce.

They are dedicated to having only the freshest and most natural products in everything they make.

No trip to SMA would be complete for us without at least one stop into Cumpanio for pastry (yes, you can get excellent pastries in Mexico). These aren’t your standard “Mexican pastries”, think French pastries. They have a good selection of fresh breads, pastries, desserts and a house made granola that is good.

Great Breakfasts and Lunch! Don’t miss it!

This groovy spot, with a trendy, modern atmosphere, includes a gourmet bakery and a bistro with a fairly upscale, eclectic menu. They serve amazing baked goods from their in-house bakery, and high quality coffee. This is a fairly spacious indoor restaurant (for San Miguel), with an all-day lounge in the front room with large windows that look out onto the street – so Cumpanio is a popular place all day long. It’s a good place for an afternoon coffee or cocktail (paired with some of their delicious baked goods!).
