  • Parque Juarez—also called the French Park—is the largest green space within San Miguel’s city center. It’s got fountains, winding paths, basketball courts, and public classes in tai chi, yoga, and zumba. The annual Candelaria plant sale that takes place in February is based here, as is the La Calaca festival in November. It’s quiet, peaceful, and safe. White egrets nest in the trees here despite municipal attempts to drive them out. Just above the park is Chorro, a steep winding street that runs past a row of public washing basins that are still being used. The spring (chorro) that originally fed the basins was found when San Miguel was first established. There are often public cultural events staged here.
