  • The Sociedad Protectora de Animales de San Miguel de Allende is the only no-kill shelter for cats and dogs in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.  We provide food, care, and shelter for approximately 100 animals (dogs and cats) as they wait to be adopted.

Times are tough for everyone, including the S.P.A. Various ways you can help support the S.P.A. and our resident animals are shown HERE on our website. We would appreciate any donation you are able to make.

PETS OF THE MONTH: Almost 1-1/2 years old, Onyx is confident, loves people, and gets along well with other cats. Remy, a beautiful 8-month-old tabby, loves to play and sit on laps. About 1-1/2 years old, Luke is a serial kisser – friendly with a constantly wagging tail. Butch, about 1 year old, can be a little nervous around strangers at first, but give him a chance to get to know you and he’s Mr. Friendly.

Adopt any of our January Pets of the Month during January to receive a free adoption kit. Our adoption hours are Monday-Saturday between 11 and 2, at the S.P.A., Los Pinos #7, 415-152-6124. Our adoption fee is 600 pesos. For dogs, it includes sterilization, all current vaccinations, deworming, the leptospirosis booster, and enrollment in the Green Paw Pet Registration Program. For cats, the fee includes sterilization, deworming, and all current vaccinations, including the feline leukemia vaccine and booster. All our dogs are shown on our website HERE and all our cats are shown HERE.

OUR CLINIC IS OPEN! Clinic hours: 9-3, Monday-Saturday, and it stays open until 4 on Tuesdays and Saturdays. We offer packages to help with the cost of providing care for your pets. To make an appointment with our veterinarian, Dr. Omar Córdova, please call 415-152-6124.

For your safety and the safety of our employees and volunteers, only 1 person may enter the S.P.A. for a consultation with the veterinarian or for an adoption interview. That person must wear a mask and stay at least 6 feet (2 meters) away from S.P.A. personnel. Please – only serious adopters who plan to adopt within a short time frame should show up for an adoption interview. Regretfully, we are not accepting visitors or new volunteers for the moment.
