  • The Sacred image of the Lord of the Column was transferred to San Juan de Dios as it has been since 1823, its arrival in this year 2020 was different, in deep silence, almost in secret. He arrived alone, without the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows or Saint John the Evangelist.

In a press conference, Father Fernando related the following:

“When a deep silence enveloped everything at 4 in the morning on March 23, the emblematic and processional path of the Lord of the Column began once again to anoint the perfume of his merciful love to all his devotees and other seekers of his ineffable gaze.

This transfer without songs, without prayers, without banners or lamps, without incense perfuming its passage, without the anointing of supplications and tears but above all without the images of the Sorrowful Virgin and Saint John the Evangelist, the faithful disciple so as not to complicate the transfer, He left early, even in the dark of the night almost secretly as if we were in the callista chase.

Our Bishop Benjamin Castillo acceded to Father Dante’s pleas in the face of the concern of the faithful who begged him not to stop. Come! May we be comforted to know that you are visiting us in this painful moment of the millions of times named coronavirus pandemic and to avoid contact that could blind lives like in Spain and Italy that they did not believe because nothing happened and did happen.

This was what we wanted to avoid obeying our Bishop and our municipal president, the door of San Juan de Dios will be closed to stone and mud, to lime and stone; With these analogies we want to express the seriousness of this tragedy that began in December 2019 and that has already claimed thousands of human lives in this painful and uncertain lent, its presence could not be lacking, although in silence and discretion to avoid crowds.
