  • Anybody over the age of 60 vividly remembers exactly where they were and what they were doing the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. There are certain days, as Franklin D Roosevelt proclaimed, that live in infamy. December 7th, 1941, November 22nd, 1963, September 11th, 2001.

This September 11th, members of the Midday Rotary Club shared their recollections of the day that changed the world. How many of us casually walked by a television set only to see billows of smoke accompanied by the deep gash in the side of the north tower of the World Trade Center. As reports filtered out about a plane crashing into the tower, we all were puzzled how this could possibly happen. And then, as a second plane hit the south tower, we watched in disbelief. It had to be a terror attack.

The events of 9-11 have changed our lives. Remember when you could walk a loved one to their gate at the airport or you could wait for them as they got off the plane? TSA, body scans, pat downs, pre-check, mobile pass, are all a part of the travel lexicon. Security checks at venues, sporting events, and amusement parks are now just a part of what we have to do to be safe and stay safe.

9-11 – A day that changed all of us.
