600,000 senior citizens aged 60 years and over have been located in the State.

The Covid-19 vaccine for older adults in Guanajuato is guaranteed, said the Delegate of the Social Welfare Programs of the Mexican Government in Guanajuato, Mauricio Hernández Núñez.

He said that a low percentage of Guanajuato residents have expressed their desire not to apply it, something that will be respected, since in no way will anyone be forced to do so.

The federal official said that due to the demand for registration, the platform has been saturated, however, he asked citizens to trust, since registration will be permanent and open.

“The platform will be permanently open, so there should be no concern, we understand that there will be anxiety (…) It is a situation that generates this feeling in many, many people, but to have confidence, the platform will be permanently available and available to adults 60 and over, even people who live in remote places will be registered with the support of the brigades and the Servants of the Nation”, he clarified.

He explained that the biologic is designed at this stage for seniors aged 60 and over, and the only data that will be requested is the Unique Population Registry Code (CURP), as well as a telephone number to be able to contact them.

In this sense, he asked for understanding and trust from the seniors and their families, since providing this information has helped to design the programming and logistics for the application in a more precise way.

“Calls are being made, and citizens are completely free to accept them or not, however, also to have confidence, that it is an instrument that has served to statistically project everything that has to do with the logistics and organization of vaccination. It has been of great support and usefulness for us to have clarity on what we are going to face in the rural territory”, said the Delegate of the Welfare Programs in the State.

“The data that are asked for are not data that we are taking out at that moment, these have already been provided to us previously, data that have been provided by the elderly themselves, we are not asking them for any additional information that they have not already provided”, he clarified.

At a national level, the vaccine against Covid-19 will be applied to 15.1 million older adults during the next two months. The goal is to locate and inoculate 3.3 million people aged 60 and over.

In the country, 2,438 senior citizens living in remote areas, mainly in rural areas, were located.

The representative of the Mexican Government in Guanajuato, said that according to INEGI data, with the housing census in Guanajuato, some 600 thousand elderly people have been detected who are in conditions to receive the biological vaccine.

“It is a number that may vary, from the document we received in recent days derived from the phone calls we were able to know that there is a minority sector of the population that for various reasons do not wish to be vaccinated (…) and the vaccine is not mandatory, it is a universal right,” he emphasized.

He pointed out that care will be taken to ensure that the people to be vaccinated are previously registered and fully identified, either in the national platform or with the data they have given to the brigadistas or Servidores de la Nación.

“To register people it is not necessary to go to any module, any office, it is an online registration that can be done from home, from a cell phone, but we will also be conducting brigades, house by house, even in the Integral Development Centers to identify adults with physical difficulties or illness,” he stressed.
