Hugo López-Gatell, undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, informed this Thursday that as of the last cut-off, more than half a million registrations have been accounted for in the COVID-19 vaccination platform for older adults.

“According to the National Digital Strategy Coordination, as of today there are almost half a million registrations of older adults on the platform http://mivacuna.salud.gob.mx,” he wrote on his Twitter account.

In addition to this, the official pointed out that in parallel, telephone calls to this sector of the population continue.

“The phone calls, yes, indeed, especially in rural areas, which is where we know there is less access to the internet, the calls are still being made.they have multiple purposes, one of the main ones is to identify the validity of the residence data of the people. There are people who move, there are people who unfortunately die, I insist, not necessarily because of COVID-19”, he said in a press conference.

In this regard, he announced that 7% of the people contacted have already died, “it does not seem to be that most of them have been the result of COVID, but of various causes, especially the older people”.

Last Tuesday, the federal government announced that registration for phase two of vaccination would be done through an electronic portal.

However, after reporting failures in its functioning, the undersecretary celebrated the interest of the population in receiving the antigen dose. He also pointed out that there was an over-demand of registrations, as up to 70,000 visits per second were reported, which caused the system to be saturated.

This morning, when we were announcing it, there was an immediate overdemand, which made us very happy, this speaks of the clarity that the people of Mexico have about the importance of getting vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus and protecting themselves and others from COVID-19.

“There is no problem because in a few days already this initial curiosity will begin to organize and what we recommend is to wait, do not despair, if today you did not make it, wait one or two days, anyway, vaccination is not going to be this same week and that will allow you to find less saturation,” he indicated.

He also assured that it is not necessary for people over 60 years of age to wait in line at the electronic platform to receive the antigen.

All seniors will be vaccinated, they do not need to reserve their place in line. It is clear to us that there was a perception that they had to line up electronically and some people thought that the order in which they registered would be the order in which they would be vaccinated. Do not think that, because it would be wrong. The order in which you appear in the registration time has nothing to do with the order in which you will be vaccinated.

As of February 4, the SSa reported 1,899,820 accumulated positive cases and 162,922 deaths due to the disease. Likewise, there are 1,461,011 people recovered, 2,470,493 negative infections and a total of 4,805,195 people studied since the first case.

According to data from the health agency, from week two to week three of 2021 there was a 16% decrease in estimated cases (sum of confirmed and suspected infections) at the national level, accounting for 2,096,374 at the last cut-off.
