Good afternoon to all my friends, family/clients, and readers,

I wanted to share my recent experience with covid and how it affects people differently and its after-effects.

As of roughly two months ago my wife, two children, and I contracted covid, which in its beginning stages seemed more like a cold, within three days it felt like bad flu and within 6 days my wife was bedridden and suffering respiratory malfunction.

My 13-year-old girl was fine six days later and my 18-year-old boy as well.

I personally suffered the loss of taste, smell, which then moved into severe fevers and unbearable coughing boughts. Although we are people of deep faith we sought out the appropriate medicines which were sent to us from Mexico City which had better effects on me than on my wife. As the days went on the symptoms continually changed, some of them I won’t go into as the details are not necessary.

By the third week, neither my wife nor myself could get out of bed without becoming extremely exhausted even for just a trip to the kitchen for water, a total loss of appetite, and losing weight and strength by the day.

Many friends and family recommended alternative medicines which we tried and had delivered.

In week four I believed that I was getting better, but my wife had to be hospitalized and came very close to being intubated, she was not and I thank God for that.

In week 5 I had my first test (after being diagnosed positive ) and low and behold it was negative, I was told to come back and be retested in 5 days for a second negative which I did, and again it was negative. My wife tested positive but not contagious.

So now I was covid free but my body ached, my organs ached and I felt tightness in my neck and chest so I went to the hospital where they performed a number of very expensive tests and immediately put me on blood thinners, diagnosed hypertension, and high blood pressure which they prescribed the appropriate medications and sent me home.

Within five hours I had the paramedics at my home as I was having a heart attack due to the medications prescribed for symptoms that appeared to be real, they were not…they were part of the after-effects of a body in recuperation from covid.

My wife is now fully recuperated and I am after 8 weeks out of the office recuperating from the medications of a misdiagnosis.

I personally have lost family, friends, and clients to this virus as I am sure many of you have as well, what continues to surprise me is the lack of responsible action taken (public transport, restaurants that don’t follow protocol, clothing stores, etc…) but more so how quickly we as a community have become calice to the people suffering with and after contracting Covid. In my particular case, it was the post covid effects that almost killed me.

I have a renewed compassion and empathy for the people suffering either personal loss which shows its self in so many ways, family, friends, financially, and even the stigma of having had covid. In an effort to combat this we will continue to provide free legal advice, double down on pro bono cases, and I will make myself personally available if anyone has questions about my personal experience.

Please friends we must understand that this virus appears in so many different forms and I am convinced that it is not “fully” understood. Compassion, care, love, and empathy is the way we will get through this as a community until this virus is fully understood.

    Best regards and kindest wishes,
