  • As the clock ticks down to the Final of our new Young Classical Musician Competition on March 25 in San Miguel at the Bellas Artes the excitement and the tension is mounting amongst the 15 semi-finalists aged from 16 to 25 who will compete for $500,000 pesos in prizes by way of career enhancing grants. The instruments they play range from marimba to piano, via bassoon, oboe and flute to violin and cello and many of them have the potential to become world class artists, but they need financial and mentoring support to achieve it.

    Daniel Calahorra/oboe                 Aisha Corona/violin              Zyanya Fernandez/Violin

The Final will be in the form of a concert at which each of the five finalists will play for 20 minutes; and YOU will have a hand in deciding the winners by way of an Audience Choice Prize. The Prize Giving will be at the end of the concert, followed by a celebration dinner with the winners and their families, the Judges and donors.

    Arturo Jimenez/marimba          Daniel Lomeli/piano        Carlos Lopez/bassoon       Octavio Lozano/flute

The majority of the prizes are now subscribed, but we still need around $200,000 pesos to complete the roster.  Opportunities are available from as little as $5,000 pesos for  Encouragement Awards to $75,000 pesos for a major prize. Contact me if you would like to donate a prize and help one of these talented young people on the way to stardom!

    Victor Montiel/piano       Nancy Olivares/cello         Axel Gabriel/piano        Barbara Prado/piano

Here’s what a Professor of Music at a well known US University said about one of the youngest semi finalists:
“I was incredibly impressed with his/her .. musical creativity, and technical abilities, as well as his/her personal maturity.  S/he is that rare musician who conveys a vivid sound image with every note s/he plays, painting a musical landscape with a tone that is lush and powerful, a musician who is able to move easily from virtuosic fireworks to introspective singing phrases…  It is unusual to encounter such a focused musical ability in one so young ..  I am certain that …  s/he will continue to develop and deepen his/her skills, continuing on his/her trajectory to become one of the world’s greatest young (musicians) ..  S/he is fully deserving of investment.

    Alejandra Reyes/violin       Isaac Reynaga/cello        Daniel Torres/piano           Franco Vargas/clarinet

This letter of recommendation is not unique in its praise of the semi-finalists and shows the amazing level of talent that will be on display at the Competition in March.

To experience these wonderful young musicians, day passes are available for the semi-finals on 24 March at $200 pesos giving all day multiple entry, and tickets for the Finals on 25 March from $200-$500 pesos. Tickets and passes for both days can now be booked on line on our web site, with no booking fee, or book by replying to this email.
