After four long months, Galeria Izamal is re-opening Saturday, August 1. The gallery is at their spacious new Jesus 25 location downtown, just off Cuadrante.
All Covid precautions are in place and have been officially approved by the SMA health department. Gallery hours, as before, are 11am to 3pm, and 4 to 8pm, every day. As a thank-you to both old and new clients, a 30% discount will apply to selected works for the entire month of August.
Galeria Izamal was founded in 1992; the new art there now ranges from the happy and colorful paintings and other items of Jeff Ferst and the large New York paintings of Lawrence Selevan, to the gestural drawings and color-field ink paintings of Britt Zaist, the energetic and expressionistic work of Javier Garcia, the strong oil florals of Cissy Smith Marks, and the expressionist/realist paintings and drawings of Henry Vermillion.
As a special treat in August, Izamal is proud to offer the work of two guest artists: Juan Carlos Cázares and Elena Baca. Juan Carlos is a magic realist painter, and Elena is the maker of large digitally composed photographs of striking images.
And, last but far from least, Izamal features two fine jewelers. Wolfgang Lichter has established himself over forty or more years as an innovative silversmith who uses semiprecious stones in unique ways, and Juan Ezcurdia, the popular SMA painter, has developed a line of jewelry based on the whimsical creatures he is known for.
