Nona Appleby returns to the The San Miguel Playhouse by popular demand!
    .
Last Winter Nona Appleby made her debut to sold-out houses in a too short season at the Playhouse.
    .
Hailing from productions in New York City and Washington, DC, Nona charmed local audiences with “The World According to Nona Appleby.”
    .
Nona returns with a brand new show prior to preparing for her Australian tour (2021). Under the magical direction of Lee Duberman , and with the musical and dance accompaniment of Pablo Buniak, “The Nona Show” promises to delight audiences as they wander even further into the resilient and delicious life of Nona Appleby.
    .
Nona Appleby (née Molesworth) is an international octogenarian of infinite spirit. Born in Australia, Nona started out in life as a ballerina with the Ballet Rambert (London) , did a stint with the Grand Kabuki (Tokyo), and danced in New York City in too many productions to mention here. Think Fosse/Verdon.
    .
Nona now faces the Third Act, in rural Mexico, doing anything and everything to keep body but mostly soul together. With the help of her friends Frank and Myra, Nona keeps tabs on her sometimes unreliable memory, learns a new language, and embraces the crown of migration, the Border Upgrade.
Nona is the creation of New Yorker cartoonist Victoria Roberts, who brings Nona to life in drawings, and also plays Nona on stage.

I agree with Richard. “The Nona Show” is very funny and inventive. And Victoria Roberts is a stitch. I highly recommend this show, which is at the San Miguel Playhouse on Avenida Independencia!

Our resident New Yorker cartoonist/comedienne Victoria Roberts outdid herself last night portraying Nona Appleby, the zany, mystifyingly secure and open hearted octogenarian who refuses to ‘go gently into the night’
…like all of us, her audience.

Pablo Buniak (performer AND Alexander Technique practitioner) was perfect as her foil and partner in absurdity.

And don’t we need some Good Absurdity right now? You’ll leave laughing and amazed at the power of the creative spirit.

      We’re going again!

Ok everyone, this is one quirky, eccentric, amusing and entertaining little piece of theater. It’ll leave you with a big smile and for $10.00(200 pesos) just might be the best entertainment bargain on the planet. Lot’s of laughter last night.
