FRANKENSTEIN

One of the most successful staging of the National Theater in London returns to the screens, after celebrating in 2018 the 200th anniversary of the publication of the classic of literature Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley.

This montage is directed by Danny Boyle, acclaimed for the film Trainspotting (1996) and deserving of the Oscar for best director award for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (2008). Written by Nick Dear for NT Live, the staging features the acting work of Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, who alternate in the role of Dr. Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. The music was written ex profeso by the British duet Underworld.

History touches current issues: concerns about scientific responsibility; the father as an absent figure, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil.

Benedict Cumberbatch has participated in outstanding films such as Doctor Strange (Scott Derrickson, 2016), The Enigma Code (Morten Tyldum, 2014), The Fifth Power (Bill Condon, 2013) and 12 Years of Slavery (Steve McQueen, 2013). His theater work began in 2001 with works by Shakespeare at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theater and has collaborated with the companies The Royal Court Theater (Rhinocéros, 2007, The City, 2008) and the National Theater (After The Dance, 2010 and Hamlet , 2015).

Jonny Lee Miller began appearing on British television series such as Jemima Shore and Mansfield Park. The first performance that gave him cinematographic prestige was Trainspotting. Other films in which he has taken part are Regeneration (Gillies MacKinnon, 1997) and Love, Honor and Obey (Dominic Anciano and Ray Burdis, 2001).

Una de las más exitosas puestas en escena del National Theatre de Londres regresa a las pantallas, luego de celebrar en 2018 los 200 años de la publicación del clásico de la literatura Frankestein, escrito por Mary Shelley.

Este montaje es dirigido por Danny Boyle, aclamado por el filme Trainspotting (1996) y merecedor del premio Óscar a mejor director por ¿Quién quiere ser millonario? (2008). Escrita por Nick Dear para el NT Live, la puesta en escena cuenta con el trabajo actoral de Benedict Cumberbatch y Jonny Lee Miller, quienes alternan en el papel del doctor Victor Frankenstein y la Criatura. La música fue escrita ex profeso por el dueto británico Underworld.

La historia toca temas hoy vigentes: las preocupaciones sobre la responsabilidad científica; el padre como una figura ausente, el desarrollo cognitivo y la naturaleza del bien y el mal.
