The Craft Fair 2022 [] Plaza Principal

San Miguel de Allende is ready for the start of the Craft Fair 2022, which will take place from August 18 to 21, la explanada del Jardín principal, where there will be 40 local artisans who will exhibit their unique products in metalwork, wool, papier-mâché, basketry, jewelry and textiles.

During the Fair there will be a diversity of decoration and gift pieces such as mirrors, lamps, rugs, capes, hearts, jewelry and much more.

Each of the San Miguel handicrafts is an example of the family effort that has forged entire generations and that is currently still in force and in the preferences of tourists and visitors, as well as the inhabitants of this World Heritage City.

“It is an event that strengthens in general the entire local craft sector. It is an activity that promotes the promotion of handicrafts made in San Miguel, generating an economic spillover that allows to continue preserving assets of the craft trades. Not only a job of the parents, but it is passed from generation to generation,” said Tania Castillo, director of Economic Development, International Relations and NGOs.

The expectation of local artisans is that an estimated economic spillover of 2 million pesos will be achieved and that their products will travel around the world, since San Miguel is a cosmopolitan space, where inhabitants of 63 nationalities converge; this represents that the crafts of Sanmiguelenses hands are present in the decoration of homes in the five continents.

“Not only are you going to see these crafts in the houses of the sanmiguelenses, if you can not travel around the world and someone is going to have a piece of San Miguel, because it travels to the whole world thanks to the diversity of all the cultures and people who come to visit us. Too many people are expected and that is what we want: that all the producers who are going to be there, all the artisans sell more, that tourists have one more reason to visit San Miguel de Allende,” added Castillo de la Peña, who is also in charge of Municipal Tourism.

This Craft Fair 2022 is strategically scheduled, since it will be exhibited during the days with the greatest influx of this holiday period, so it is predicted that the exhibition and interest in handmade pieces by San Miguel families will increase considerably.

To this expo of three consecutive days in the largest meeting point and visits of this World Heritage City are added other tourist attractions, such as the Festival of the Arts (Fasma) that, with more than 70 events, also offers culture and entertainment to all attendees of San Miguel.

With the new Expo Artesanal 2022, the Municipal Government promotes the creativity of its people who have positioned San Miguel de Allende once again as the cultural epicenter at the national level and is the destination that makes Mexico and the world beat and that is better every day.
