Feast of Mary of Three Hail Marys
Temple of Good Health, on Plaza Civica
Expect morning fireworks on the 15th of August and all-day celebrations at Our Lady of Good Health chapel on Plaza Civica in honor of Mary of Three Hail Marys. The mojigangas will be out in force at 5PM dancing with the Locos. In 1960 Father Benjamin Grimaldi Balderas built the chapel to the right of the main altar in the Temple of Good Health to this image of Mary. Three Hail Marys is a traditional Roman Catholic devotional practice of reciting three Hail Marys after waking in the morning and before going to bed, following an examination of your day each night. This prayer began in the 12th century when Saints Matilda and Gertrude received visions of Mary encouraging the three prayers to honor the trinity of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit which later aid you at the time of your death.
To celebrate the Virgin, devotees hold a procession through the main streets of town accompanied by children dressed in blue, pink or white, the colors of angels and where we got those colors for baby nurseries.Offering unique tours on local traditions and celebrations to groups, or solo adventurers, customized to meet your time, budget, and interests.
