PAINTING WITH PASSION
AND A MISSION
PASTEL PAINTING DEMO and BENEFIT SALEThursday, January 17
3 to 6 pmBordello Galeria
Thursday, January 17, 3-6 PMJoin us at the Bordello Galeria this coming Thursday afternoon for an artist reception, exhibit sale, and pastel painting demonstration to benefit our less fortunate children here in San Miguel. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the disabled of our community and DSES*, an organization to help disabled kids and vets to enjoy outdoor sports regardless of physical disability.
The benefactor of this event, Mike Ishikawa, formerly an architect and avid outdoorsman, has now become a top award-winning pastel painter in his retirement, including a recent 1st place in the Plein Air Festival of Los Angeles and the Pastel Society of Southern California.
Mike currently combines his passion for the out of doors, his love of pastel painting and his compassion for the needs of the disabled through benefit events in Southern California, and now here in San Miguel. Ishikawa’s mission has become to help less fortunate others enjoy the out of door activities we take for granted.
Mike discovered San Miguel while in a painting workshop at Casa de la Noche Bed and Breakfast last year and brought home the spirit of our town though sketches and photos which he has converted into 10 or so paintings inspired by our remarkable architecture. Seeing his paintings is like going on a field trip through San Miguel.
In addition to the one day exhibit at the Bordello Galeria, Mike will do a demo painting in Pastels to be raffled off while he is here for the week.
Ishikawa’s reception will be from 3PM to 6PM Thursday January 17. He will have his painting materials in the ready and will demo and answer questions throughout the event.
The painting created during this afternoon will be raffled off, and like the sales of all painting on display 100%of the proceeds will go to help others.
Please join us to enjoy this special opportunity to watch Mike Ishikawa’s pastel demo “art in action” in the fountain garden of Casa de la Noche, and see a collection of his work commemorating
our town.Bordello Galeria and Casa de la Noche are located at Organos19, Centro, 1/2 block off Hernandez Macias.
