    Photographic Gallery, Mesones 57 interior

It is with great delight that the Photographic Gallery invites the public to meet the artists, Lori Pond and Wendi Schneider, who will both be present alongside their new work.

They are both outstanding photographers working with gilded photography. Guiding is a process where images printed on transparent support such as vellum paper or handmade rice paper are then applied with gold or silver leaf on the backside; in order to give them an iridescent light that makes them come alive to the eye.

It will be the first time Lori will meet the public here although some of her work has been previously featured in this gallery. They are both displaying new work never before seen here in San Miguel.

Wendi Schneider is a visual artist whose vibrant work captures a deep reverence for organic forms and nature. She was born in Memphis but has lived in Denver since 1994. Trained as a painter she began layering glasés onto her photographs to create a more personal interpretation. She has worked on many book covers and also collaborated on the original Victoria Magazine before she returned to fine art photography.

Lori Pond was born in California, having lived in Los Angeles for the past 35 years. She has done graphics for many T.V. Shows such as American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Access Hollywood, and Conan. Photography has always been a big part of her life. Her photography encompasses themes such as fear, good vs. evil, life and death, and the impermanence of all things. Her most well-recognized work is “Bosch Redux” in which she replicated details from the works of the 15th. century painter Hieronymus Bosch used models, props, and specially made prosthetics to create and celebrate his oeuvre. She has studied photography with artists like Aline Smithson, Jo Ann Callis, Richard Tuschman, and Dan Burkholder.

The Academia & Galaría Fotografía SMA is the center for photography in San Miguel Allende. Founded by Jo Brenzo, the Gallery holds exhibits, offers classes, one-day photography excursions, and traveling workshops throughout Latin America. The Academia & Galaría Fotografía also hosts a meetup and coffee social for photographers every Saturday at 11 am.
