The public is invited to Essence: A Three Person Art Exhibition at the Chapel of Jimmy Ray Gallery on Saturday, February 23 from 1pm to 5pm. The art of Shirli Marcantel, Greg Ellis and Anado McLauchlin will be on view to titillate the Mystery that resides within pattern….Be prepared for many surprises and a chance to immerse oneself in a community of celebration. Opening at the Chapel are always a great time to be had and of course…the exhibition is free. As a courtesy to others, please do not bring your dogs….

The Casa de las Ranas and the Chapel of Jimmy Ray are the fanciful, psychedelic creations of the eccentric artist Anado McLauchlin and his husband Richard. It’s an eye candy smorgasbord of assemblage and tile, a trippy wonderland in La Cienegitas, a few miles outside of town. A bizarre and fanciful version of the Parroquia itself, the house and gallery are a famed local attraction. Visits are by appointment only; check the website for their fabulous openings.
