    We can announce with great pleasure the 44th Festival de Música de Cámara, August 12-27, 2022. Anthony McGill, clarinet and the Gryphon Trio will open the season, followed by Orion Weiss, piano and the Parker Quartet, and Magos Herrera, vocalist and Brooklyn Rider will end the season. This combination of artists and instruments feature repertoire not often heard in San Miguel and promises to be one of the most exciting Festivals we have ever presented.

    Gryphon Trio with Anthony McGill: Fri., Aug. 12, 7pm

    Canada’s premier piano trio (Annalee Patipatanakoon, violin; Roman Borys, cello; Jamie Parker, piano) teams up with Anthony McGill, principal clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic. Works of Valentin Silvestrov, Arvo Pärt, James Lee III and Olivier Messiaen.

    Gryphon Trio with Anthony McGill: Sat., Aug. 13, 7pm

    Canada’s premier piano trio (Annalee Patipatanakoon, violin; Roman Borys, cello; Jamie Parker, piano) teams up with Anthony McGill, principal clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic. Works of Antonín Dvorák, Leonard Bernstein, Edvard Grieg and Johannes Brahms

    Orion Weiss: Thurs., Aug. 18, 7pm

    One of the best pianists of his generation (“Weiss has both powerful technique and exceptional insight” — Washington Post) makes his San Miguel debut. Works of Sergei Rachmaninoff, Claude Debussy and Samuel Barber. 

    Parker Quartet with Orion Weiss: Sat., Aug. 20, 7pm

    The Grammy-winning string quartet (“something extraordinary” — New York Times) teams up with pianist Orion Weiss. Works of Ludwig van Beethoven, Felipe Lara and Johannes Brahms.

    Brooklyn Rider: Fri., Aug. 26, 7pm

    One of the world’s most exciting string quartet ensembles (“four classical musicians performing with the energy of young rock stars” — Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) makes its long-awaited San Miguel debut. Works of Gonzalo Grau, Colin Jacobsen, Osvaldo Golijov and Franz Schubert.

    Brooklyn Rider with Magos Herrera: Sat., Aug. 27, 7pm

    The thrilling string quartet ensemble from Brooklyn, New York, teams up with Mexican jazz legend Magos Herrera for a one-of-a-kind crossover concert called “Dreamers: Songs from the Ibero-American Songbook.”
