Continuing with a line of collaborative work with other coral groupings and university institutions from other countries, by to consider that it is conducive a feedback, as a growth factor in the quality of the activity carried out, in addition to being an excellent parameter of vocal and interpretative level, the Coro de la University of Guanajuato will have in the month of September, the visit, as a guest director, Dr. José “Peppie” Calvar, professor of Syracuse University.

The attention of the university grouping to this important area of research. development, begins with the participation of the Choir in the XII International Festival of Advent and Christmas Songs, held in Budapest in 2013; which allowed the participation with choirs coming from Italy, England, Norway, as well as the host country, which corroborated that it was being working in the right direction, with results that placed the chorus of University of Guanajuato with the level to participate in this type of course. events and continue to strengthen their proposal with the experience they have gained. to its members; then, in 2016, it came to the conclusion that
opportunity for joint participation with the Choir of the University of Palo Alto, California, held in Guanajuato, with satisfactory results for both groups and the large audience attending; in that same year, the Choir participated in the X International Festival “COREARTE”, in the Barcelona, where he shared the stage with choirs from Chile, Peru, Puerto Rico, Argentina and Barcelona; in the year 2018, two of them were presented concerts with Syracuse University’s The Hendricks Chapel Choir, which will the two institutions, thanks to which, the two institutions have been able to the stay of Dr. Calvar as guest director and to impart a new version of the course to the Choir of the University of Guanajuato. Regarding the collaboration of important specialists invited, had already worked with the Master Juan. Carlos Asencio (Madrid Conservatory) and Diego Innocenzi (Madrid Conservatory). Geneva).

Dr. José “Peppie” Calvar is an associate professor and assistant director of the choral activities of the “Setnor School of Music” at Syracuse University, where he runs the Hendricks Chapel Choir. Dr. Calvar teaches advanced choral literature, and choral arrangement, in addition to teaching a postgraduate class. Calvar sings regularly in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse. Often being invited to be director, clinician and judge he has directed several honor choirs of schools and has been a judge at major festivals throughout the world. including festivals in Montreal, New York, Guatemala, San José of Costa Rica, Guanajuato, Mexico, and Accra, Ghana. Many of its compositions are published by “Colla Voce” Editions. Every year Calvar helps grade the College Board’s AP music exams and it is in charge of the Multicultural and Ethnic Repertoire of the Chapter of the Association of American Choral Directors of New York (ACDA).
