Paloma S/N.
For many years, the vernal equinox has meant a welcome to the new rhythm set by nature. We celebrate 34 years of resistance protecting this beautiful natural monument and we want to celebrate the great festival of the Earth as every year, in the natural forum of the Charco del Ingenio canyon.
We invite you to share this celebration, financially supporting the Botanical Garden through the purchase of a ticket, to enjoy a show of high artistic quality. This is Orquesta Basura, a group of musicians trained at the National School of Music who, with 15 years of experience, have become composers, multi-instrumentalists and urban luthiers by making their own instruments from recycled waste, to offer an unparalleled sound experience by fusing genres, styles and rhythms. Come and dance tasty with this harmonization of instruments that achieve a very particular voice on an extraordinary stage.

Much of San Miguel’s splendor can be discovered in its abundance of man made beauty, but at El Charco del Ingenio, nature is the aesthetic draw. At this more than 170-acre botanical garden set in an ecological preserve, you’ll have the chance to spot wildlife, walk along greenery-lined trails and learn about various species of local cacti. Meanwhile, the San Miguel community often gathers in the garden to watch performances, partake in ceremonies and attend environmental education programs. Recent travelers recommend enjoying a hike through the park, picnicking alongside the waterfalls or spending an evening at a concert in the outdoor amphitheater. Located just a mile northeast of central San Miguel, El Charco del Ingenio can be reached on foot (it’s about a 30-minute walk from the municipal market) or by taxi. The reserve is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Led by English-speaking guides, two-hour tours of the conservation area operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. NATURAL HISTORY TOURS AT THE BOTANICAL GARDEN (en Inglés) Tour of the Natural History for El Jardin Botanico (English) Tuesdays / Thursdays 10 generally am-noon public: 150pesos; 100pesos members Tuesday / Thursday from 10am to noon; General public: 150pesos; 100pesos members Bird Watching Tours every first and third Wednesday of the month. 9: 00-11: 30 am; General public: 150pesos; 100pesos members Bird watching excursions every first and third Wednesday of the month. 9: 00-11: 30 am; General public: 150pesos; 100pesos members For more information, visit the garden’s website.
