Samir Belkacemi, international guitarist and composer, offers a program with original compositions characterized by strong and innovative tones and rhythms. Belkacemi creates a balance between consonant and dissonant sounds seeking a unique language. Belkacemi’s compositions range from classical music to flamenco, jazz, blues, rock, electronic, Hindu, and Arabic in an electric fusion of world music. Belkacemi has about 80 compositions and his first feature film, Universe, includes his fascinating sound track inspired by the classical music of North India and the sitar. Belkacemi created two tuning systems, standard guitar tunings and alternate tunings to achieve his unique sound.
Belkacemi’s program, with original compositions characterized by strong and novel tonalities, surprising and unusual harmonic modulations and polyrhythms creates a balance between consonant and dissonant sounds unique language. Inspired by incidental music, it seems the program travels organically to take us to a catharsis and climax. His harmonic concept is corporeal, abstract, and subliminal, creating an orchestral effect. The influences of this composer are wide ranging. Its concept is an eclectic fusion. Belkacemi is a great improviser and spontaneous creator and his interpretations result in unique, original music. He invites us to use imagination and introspection and to lose ourselves to meet us, in the infinite universe of music. Mexican-Algerian guitarist and composer, Belkacemi is a Cultural Ambassador of Mexico, acclaimed in the US, Mexico, Algeria, Canada and China.
