Considered one of the world’s premier Latin guitar virtuosos, Peruvian-born Alfredo Muro gives concert tours around the world, from the Americas to the Far East. His concerts have an almost spiritual effect on audiences. “He brings me to that place that only really inspiring musicians can bring one,” says José Feliciano, a longtime fan. “Music from heaven,” echoes New York Times bestselling author T.A. In his first San Miguel appearance in a season, Muro’s fiery, sensuous, jazz-flavored playing will be on display in a concert ranging from Argentinean tangos, preludios, carnavalitos, Spanish music, and flamenco, to subtle bossa nova, lively sambas, rhythmic choros, romantic samba-cancao, elegant Brazilian waltzes, and powerful and dark Afro-Sambas. The concert will include music by Bach, Moreno-Torroba, Albéniz, Jobim, Piazzolla, Gardel, Baden Powell, Pixinguiha, Falu, and other composers.
Muro will be performing in one of his favorite venues, St. Paul’s Church, Cardo 6. For the first time ever, thanks to Boleto City’s emphasis on reserved seating, every one of the 164 seats in St Paul’s will be reserved and assigned. The uncomfortable and demeaning scrambling for seats will be entirely unnecessary.
