These two countries in Southeast Asia, former French colonies are full of interesting and beautiful sights. From tropical beaches to sun baked plains to rolling hills and forested mountains, and the mighty Mekong River. While Cambodia is well known for the majestic temples of Angkor Wat, Laos too has significant archaeological sites; the enigmatic Plain of Jars and the pre-Angkorian ruins of Champasak. Both countries are home to interesting wildlife, friendly people, atmospheric cities, and many unique sights and events. This talk will discuss travel, history, culture and social issues that face both countries as they grapple with how to preserve their biological and cultural hertitage in the 21st century.

Part time San Miguel resident JOHN LEUPOLD has made over 25 visits to these 2 countries and leads trips to both countries with his business, CHAMPACA JOURNEYS.
