    San Miguel de Allende

CAMINO SILVESTRE opened its doors to public, in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, in December 2010. The first shop in Mexico dedicated to hummingbirds and other wild birds appreciation its founders have dedicated more than 15 years to the design and creation of hummingbird feeders using recycled materials, created by Mexican artisans.

PARASOL, as the enterprise is known in the United States, has quickly emerged as one of the most significant organisation in the wild bird feeding industry, creating feeders that were not merely functional but also perfect gifts for nature lovers and bird watchers. This enterprise, which started 18 years ago, has always made its feeders and other objects with recycled materials using procedures and techniques that have a low environmental impact. Its first sales were focused on the American and Canadian markets. The feeders have allowed the creation of a narrow link between man and hummingbird. Throughout history this species of bird has been considered a sign of good luck its feathers are said to possess magical qualities. Hummingbirds also have a reputation for stirring up love and their presence inspires joy to the lucky observer.

CAMINO SILVESTRE currently consists of two shops and a restaurant in San Miguel de Allende and one shop in Mexico City. These meeting points are places where you can enjoy, learn and buy the perfect gift. The shops offer decorative objects for the house and garden, including a large variety of seeders, binoculars, bird observation guides and other books.

CAMINO SILVESTRE is an ecologically responsible enterprise working with organizations that try to protect birds and the environment.

CAMINO SILVESTRE and its incredible team, are also the organizers and founders of the International Hummingbird Festival, in which a diverse group of Mexican and International speakers, experts in ornithology, biology and sociology participate. The first festival took place in September 2013, with the objective of informing and educating the public as well as focussing on the protection of the hummingbird. This year the event will take place in October in San Miguel de Allende, Gto., an event sponsored by the Jardìn Botànico El Charco del Ingenio (Botanical Garden El Charco del Ingenio) in order to get benefits for its preservation and the Sociedad Audobon in Mexico (Audobon Society in Mexico).

Additionally, CAMINO SILVESTRE offers a selection of different national and international products, such as jewellery, gifts, and accessories for the house, available for men, women and children as well as educational materials. We also have an exclusive design range of pieces from the renowned ceramist Gorky González, and the complete collection from the gastronomic author Diana Kennedy. The shop maintains a community tradition and participates in many different events, including concerts, art exhibitions, environmental projects, cuisine showcases and occasions aimed at exploring Mexico’s rich diversity.

Keep visiting us in any of our shops. You’ll love it!
