Outstanding in the Field, the traveling restaurant without walls, returns to San Miguel de Allende to set its long table at a new central highlands locale – Vinedo San Miguel’s beautiful vineyard property just 10 minutes from the heart of San Miguel’s Centro. Plan to take some time to soak in the culture and history of one of Mexico’s most vibrant and beautifully restored colonial cities. Donnie Masterton of SMA’s The Restaurant will be back in the field kitchen serving his global comfort food, a staple of San Miguel’s thriving culinary fabric since 2008. Masterton earned his stripes in some of the United States’ most renowned kitchens before moving to Mexico for a slower pace of life. Fatima is his newest restaurant, opened just this past spring, and Juan Jose (J.J.) is in charge of the kitchen there. J.J. was on The Restaurant team at last year’s OITF dinner in SMA, so he’s an experienced field chef. The multi-course menu will be paired with wines from Vinedo San Miguel, and before everyone sits down for dinner, guests will enjoy small-batch sipping tequila from Tequila Casa Dragones. Expect this meal to be muy deliciosa.
Outstanding in the Field is a traveling celebration of people and place and the origins of good food — a restaurant without walls that has staged hundreds of table-to-farm dinners across North America and around the world since 1999, working with top regional chefs whose menus feature ingredients harvested from the scenery surrounding the table. -
