  • KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN
    by Manuel Puig

The multilayered, intensely compelling tale of love,
betrayal and intrigue that launched the award-winning musical and film.

‘Sometimes they talk all night long. In the still darkness of their cell Molina re-weaves the glittering and fragile stories of the films he loves, and the cynical Valentin listens. Valentin believes in the just cause which makes all suffering bearable; Molina believes in the magic of love which makes all else endurable. Each has always been alone, and always – especially now – in danger of betrayal. But in cell 7 each surrenders to the other something of himself that he has never surrendered before.’

If you miss seeing Kiss of the Spider Woman you will miss the finest that San Miguel has to offer… a Broadway level production, standing ovation, audience with tears and smiles an absolutely amazing experience, the reason we live in San Miguel. You don’t just see 2 actors on stage, you see two prisoners and you feel their emotions, their pain and sorrow and their light heartedness. Alan Jordan, the director is brilliant with his vision and talents and I think his best by far production to date. There are 4 more performances before the play closes (fingers crossed it is extended). If you see Kiss of the Spider Woman you will be amazed at the quality of theater here in San Miguel

Kiss of the Spider Woman, directed by Alan Jordan and showing at the Shelter Theater is an exceptional production — an intense and striking interpretation of Manuel Puig’s brilliant 1976 book and 1983 stage play. Alan Jordan has done an outstanding job of staging a complex and compelling production with limited space and only two (superb) actors.
