NEW! Facilitated Weekly Writing Practice Begins August 22

Whether you’re interested in writing about a specific topic, or simply interested in trying something new, this facilitated weekly writing practice group will offer a liberating dose of structure to support your efforts. Find out what’s possible for your writing by committing to a weekly group writing practice (within and beyond group sessions). All levels of expertise and experience are welcome.

The intent is to form an atmosphere of encouragement where participants feel free to create. We will transform our intuition, thoughts and experiences into poetry or prose—or a hybrid form.

Short works of nonfiction, memoir, and poetry by established and emerging writers, along with other prompts will provide inspiration for our weekly writing practice. Writers may use other tools to personalize their writing prompts, provided by the facilitator or by the writer.

Participants may opt to use class exercises and writing time to revise and polish work already in progress. The goal is for each participant to produce one or more drafts of a story or poem, for personal satisfaction or eventual publication.
One participant said, “Among the writers in the group I joined with Maia, there was one with a first-rate memoir, almost finished, another who had been writing for years and me, who’d hardly written a word. Maia has that special ability to work with divergent talents and levels of experience. She is highly experienced, kind and encouraging.” – C. R.

You have little to lose and much to gain by showing up and writing with us, either for one day or for the full 14-week series.

Workshops are led by Maia Williams, co-director of the international San Miguel Writers’ Conference, founder of San Miguel’s Poetry and Prose Cafés Bellas Artes, and publisher of Crossroads: La Vida Creative en San Miguel de Allende. Courses are conducted in English. Seating is limited. Info: wownowmx@gmail.com – Subject: Write!
