As part of Fundacion Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Mexico Centro’s 3rd Anniversary celebrations, and in conjunction with fundraising efforts for Green Burial options in San Miguel de Allende and across Mexico, Fundación EKR Mexico Centro offers this and two other free workshops for the San Miguel community.
Guest of honor Ken Ross, son of Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and president of EKR Global, special guest Wendy Pineda, president of EKR Guatemala, and Wilka Roig, president of EKR Mexico Centro, together lead a dynamic workshop, to contemplate how we may heal grief in community in order to live a fuller life, and consider the legacies we may leave for our future generations.
San Miguel artist Marti McGinnis, creator of shrowds for green burial, leads a discussion on the concept of shrouds as creative focus to contemplate life and prepare to return to the earth, and preparing our own shrowd as a touch point for our loved ones to find comfort in knowing about and honoring our final wishes.
Ken, the son of pioneer Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, is founder and president of the EKR Foundation and serves on several boards of directors. Ken was the primary caregiver for his mother for the last 9 years of her life until hear death in 2004. Ken is a professional photographer, having recently achieved his goal to photograph 101 countries.
Wendy, theologian, sociologist, thanatlologist and music therapist, is Director of the Fundacion Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Guatemala and of the Guatemalan Association of Thanatology and End of Life Care. Wendy, visionary, compassionate, humanist, enjoys creating educational and social programs.
Wilka, president of Fundacion Elisabeth Kubler-Ross México Centro, is a transpersonal psychologist, ordained interfaith minister, death doula, grief counselor, dream worker, teacher, writer, facilitator, Tai Chi and Qigong instructor, photographer, musician, artist, jeweler, baker and mythmaker.
Marti, mostly self-taught artist and art teacher, draws, paints, blogs and explores other media to express happy ideas in a meaningful way. She encourages others to find their particular artistic voice, and discover ways to best present their unique ideas. Marti creates colorful shrouds for green burial and raises awareness of the importance of preparing for a good death.
