    Hands-on Classes Learning Knife Skills, Cooking with Spice Blends & Flavoring & Understanding the Basics Components to Real Nutrition & Stable Health

    CLASS I :: KITCHEN NUTRITION 101: Basic Principles to a Nutritious Home Kitchen :: Pantry Set-up :: Sourcing and using quality protein, carbohydrates & fats. Principles of Bio-Individuality & Eating a Balanced Meal :: Seasoning meats, the big veggie cook-off with onion & garlic cutting practice!

    CLASS II :: HUMAN NUTRITION & HOW FOODS HEAL – Healing with food :: Forget the fads, these are the facts we can’t live without about food as essential energy source. :: Healing gas, bloating, inflammation with prebiotics, probiotics, broths, herbs and golden milk.   We’ll make a “complete” smoothie to kick off class! Nut & Seed Milks, Bone Broth Basics, General Uses of Turmeric and Herbs, Prebiotics & Probiotics

    CLASS III :: EASY PLANT-BASED MEALS :: The importance of local produce with easy to make hands on recipes. Ditch the recipe & enjoy a hands on class to cooking off lots of farm goods with a few easy tips.  Getting complete protein with vegetables sources. Yogurt cheese, the perfect egg, lentil burgers and multiple vegetable recipes.

    CLASS IV :: GLOBAL DISHES::  A fun classes exploring and combining the great variety of flavors favored by many cultures around the world.  Learn spices, flavors and blends that inspire cooking at home. Focus on healthy fats used around the world to make Saag, Vegetable Couscous, Dahl, Avgolemono, & Asian Flavors

    CLASS V :: HEALTHY DESSERTS :: Yes, there is such a thing as healthy desserts. In this class, we will replace refined carbs with healthy fats and mineral rich sugars to make some wonderful, delightful and satisfying and forgive-able sweet treats :: Chocolate Cake, Creamless Creams, Nut Crusts & Fruit Compotes


    Pura Vida Kitchen offers a variety of classes on basic nutrition for the home kitchen, great ways to prepare ALL the food you want to eat and on specialty classes for healing.  We offer a variety of classes ranging from great main dishes from all over the world,  baking pastries & breads, using all sorts of flour blends to make pies and desserts to fermenting your own probiotic foods and improving your kitchen skills as well as your health!


    Here’s the Pura Vida Kitchen focus…

    ~ showing anyone and everyone who eats (and who may cook for themselves and others) optimal ways to prepare food that is healthful, as well as delicious.  PVK does not subscribe to any fad diets or nutritional trends which often distract people from the importance of food.  The act of eating, along with moving and sleeping, is a fundamental part of everyday life.  Done with love and patience, consistently, we can all eat for pleasure as well as health.

    ~ sharing recipes from around the globe which broaden the repertoire of the home cook – Greek spanakopita, Lebanese-style falafel, Vietnamese spring rolls, African peanut stews and more are ways to eat a variety of foods.

    ~ take away recipes, skills and ideas you can use forever and get solid ideas on preparing meals you want to    eat knowing it has the right balance of proteins, fats and carbs for you.

    ~ knowing, using and not being afraid of fats!  the good ones.   Fats add most of what of the delicious part of      the plate!  There are fats to enjoy and fats to avoid.   Home kitchens should be stocked with the good ones    since we can’t control for the ones used the prepared foods we buy at markets and restaurants.

    ~ how to make sure you cook everything you buy from the farmer’s market!  No more limp vegetables in the crisper!

    ~ make your own condiments – if you want to avoid preservatives, added sugars and other unreadable ingredients in your home kitchen, homemade condiments are super simple, tastier and make great gifts.

    ~ incorporating anti-inflammation foods – simplifying ways for you treat and reduce chronic inflammation – which can result from all sorts of stresses to the body – simple since there are lots of foods which offer loads    of nutrition to the cells.

    ~ fermenting foods! making kim chee, sauerkraut and using wild yeasts to grow nutritious probiotic food in your own home.
