On May 18th, collectives of the municipalities of León and San Miguel de Allende join the protest: National Mourning for the lives of women and girls in Mexico.
The women of this Mexico go out to protest the wave of violence against women, the high rate of disappearances and femicides that have occurred in recent years.
The National Women’s Movement, made up of feminist collectives and organizations, calls for everyone to meet on May 18 at 5 pm, in the Jardin of San Miguel de Allende and other cities.
Collective activists call for the protest in the country’s public squares to decree the growing wave of femicides and disappearances, as a national emergency.
The demonstration will be held Wednesday, May 18, to make visible that in Mexico they not only kill 12 women a day, but now, 20 or more are also disappearing.
Through social networks, various collectives, associations and feminist organizations made an invitation to carry out the mobilization to force the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador to stop the “disappearances and femicides of girls, adolescents and women.”
In the call, an exhortation is made so that those who attend this protest do so with “black clothing, flowers, crosses and candles.”
