Does this sound familiar?  You’ve planned a special evening in Centro.  A 6 pm dinner reservation perhaps.  You decided to drive your own vehicle only to discover all of the lots are full.  Forget about finding a parking spot on the street.  Yes, you should have taken a cab or a bus.

Parking in San Miguel has become more and more difficult, especially during weekends, when the local traffic has to share the streets and parking areas with the many visitors. The city government talks about a mobility plan they want to introduce, but so far talks remain, but action is lacking.  But we all recognize that something must be done.

On Tuesday, October 16, local resident Ivar Schacke will provide his view of San Miguel de Allende’s traffic problems and he will present a workable parking policy. Ivar will describe the present situation and come forward with practical suggestions for how to deal with parking and some other traffic problems in our town.

Ivar Schacke has a masters degree in road and traffic issues from the Technical University of Denmark. He has worked for 40 years with the Danish Transport Ministry and for 20 years been director of the transport research institute. He has been the contact person between European transport institutes and the European Commission and has for 12 years taught highway design at the above university. Ivar has been responsible for road projects in several countries, especially in Asia.

Join the Midday Club of San Miguel de Allende on Tuesday, October 16th  for this presentation.  We meet Tuesday morning from 9 to 10:30 AM at the San Miguel Essen restaurant, located next to the yellow caboose on Sterling Dickinson.  Admission is free plus there is an optional breakfast for 100 pesos.  Oh, and there is plenty of nearby parking too!

Rotary is where neighbors, friends and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders and take action to create lasting change. For more information, contact President Ivar Schacke at Ivar1819@gmail.com
