Expats living in San Miguel de Allende can always get answers from the Office of Customer Service to the Expat Community and Nongovernmental Organizations.  That’s a long name, but it’s a short way to get help.  And, perhaps best of all is that the employees are bilingual with many speaking English.

Francisco Garay Russo heads the Office of Economic Development and International Affairs and he will be this week’s guest speaker at the Mid Day Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende.  Better known as Paco, Garay Russo, and his staff have opened the doors to help expats and the NGO community.   In a 2018 article for Atencion, Garay Russo said the office specializes is giving support to the expat community.  His department’s main goal is to work as a team with NGOs to economize their resources. For that purpose, he said, they are working on a map of NGOs “in order to know where they are working, which rural communities or neighborhoods they are serving, and how to get NGOs into those places where the help has been limited.”

Francisco Garay Russo is a native of San Miguel with an impressive resume that includes public policy and international affairs at Princeton University, and Kaiser Associates in Washington DC.  He has a master’s degree in corporate law from Stanford University and worked for a law firm in New York before returning San Miguel. He also worked on Luis Alberto Villarreal’s mayoral campaign.

The Midday Club of San Miguel de Allende is pleased to welcome Francisco Garay Russo as he talks more about this important governmental arm of the local administration.  There will be plenty of time for your questions too.  Join us Tuesday, July 30th.  We’re located at Los Arcos, next to the yellow caboose on Sterling Dickenson.  Doors open at 9 AM with the presentation commencing at 9:30 and is free.

Rotary is where neighbors, friends, and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders and take action to create lasting change. For more information, contact President Gary Peterson at gpeterson41@gmail.com
