  • Traffic in SMA
    Tuesday, December 10th, 2019 9:30 AM
    Where: Los Arcos
    Address: Stirling Dickinson 27

Although my wife and I have only lived in San Miguel two and a half years, in that short time, we’ve noticed the massive amount of traffic that plagues our newly adopted home town.  In particular, weekends are especially heavy with the influx of visitors from Mexico City and Queretaro.  The experience of traversing the Libramiento from La Luciérnaga to El Pipila at La Comer is harrowing.  Eighteen wheelers battle for road space with busses large and small, passenger vehicles, and motorbikes.  Those that have lived here over 30 years harken back to the days when you would be hard-pressed to see three cars on the road.  Those days are long over as our city enjoys the notoriety of being one of the top spots on the globe.

Join the Mid Day Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende this coming Tuesday when Adolfo Cervantes is our guest speaker.  Mr. Cervantes is a past director of Transit and Transportation of SMA, serving in this role from 2009 to 2012.  Mr. Cervantes will speak about the traffic issues plaguing San Miguel de Allende.  In particular, he will discuss our current situation and offer what he believes are solutions.  In particular, he will address the issues at the El Pipila.  He will also talk about a parking meter system in Centro, public transportation, and tourist trams.

Adolfo Cervantes has served as President of the Local Red Cross and is currently the Vice President of Madre Tierra Stores.  His role as director of Transit and Transportation during a period of explosive growth puts him in a position to provide valuable insight into the traffic problems of SMA.

Doors open at 9 AM, the meeting begins at 9:30 AM with the presentation scheduled between 9:45 and 10:15 AM.  We’re located at Los Arcos at #27 Sterling Dickinson
