Topics covered will be the system used to detect cases, trends of the coronavirus, the government’s unreliable numbers, predictions of the number infected, and confusion among the San Miguel population about what was being reported by the government about the epidemic. The questions about opening up too soon will also be covered as we talk about how our economy depends on tourism. Our speakers will include discussion of preventive actions the expatriate residents need to take, new drugs and therapies proving to be somewhat effective, and fraudulent treatments offered both here in SMA and internationally. Also, our guests will address the hope for the rapid release of a vaccine – albeit perhaps imperfect – and other immediate blood mediated therapeutics.

You’ll also learn about Home Health Care for COVID Alliance managed by Be Well San Miguel. This is a Program for COVID patients who do not want to go to the hospital ever, could not afford the private hospital deposit required, or want to stay at home as long as possible and possibly avoid hospitalization altogether.

About our speakers: Deborah Bickell is the founder of Be Well SMA. She is an international health worker and graduate of the Stanford University Physician Assistant program with a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Ramirez works in the Emergency Department at MAC Hospital and sees patients in his consultorio. He is a specialist and board-certified emergency physician with more than 22 years of experience in emergency rooms. Sue Leonard, RN NP, is a dedicated and highly skilled advocate, a Nurse Practitioner trained in the United States, with fourteen years’ experience working and living in San Miguel.

This is another in a series of important presentations via Zoom Video Conferencing the Midday Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende is presenting to keep you informed with the most accurate, up-to-date news about the COVID 19 pandemic and its impact in our community. Please join us this Tuesday at 9:30 AM.
