Death has never had it so good. In San Miguel de Allende, the public party is about to begin. The four day Festival La Calaca features several parades, all night celebrations, dances, talks on the dead, plays, public alters in homes and the streets around the Jardin, face painting in Centro, and so much more. The person behind all of this will be our featured speaker this Tuesday. The Midday Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende welcomes Klaudia Oliver, founder and President of La Calaca. Born in Monterrey, Mexico and raised in Texas, Klaudia lived in various European countries. It was her work with singer David Bowie’s management company where she honed her craft of event production and public relations. In 2007 she settled in San Miguel de Allende. In 2013 she was awarded El Corazon de San Miguel making her an official cultural ambassador of Conde Nast Traveller’s World’s Best City .
Join the Midday Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende for this “can’t miss” presentation about one of SMA’s most celebrated events. Ms. Oliver will speak about the day of the dead observances. From the opening of the crypt beneath the Paroquia to all of the unique experiences and events surrounding La Calaca. Face paintings on the streets, the annual parade from Parque Juarez to the Jardin, If you’re a seasoned Dia de Los Muertos veteran, or if your new to our town, or perhaps your just visiting, this is an event you surely want to take part in.
