    AUDUBON’s WORLD WATER WEEK EVENTS

Due to the urgent need to contain the spread of the COVID-19, we are postponing our World Water Week events and Wild Arts Festival.

Times like these remind us of  how deeply interconnected  we are and of the need to take care of ourselves, one another and the elements of our natural world.

One thing we can do to restore our spirits and promote our well-being is to connect with nature… take a walk or a hike, wander through Parque Juarez to visit our pollinator garden or simply sit on your patio to listen to the birds.  Author Robert Louv calls it getting our Vitamin N.

Wishing you good health and peace,

    The Audubon team

    FRIDAY, MARCH 20 – Walk on Water  8:30 am – 12:30 pm / free

Join April Gaydos, president of  Audubon de Mexico for a mini-adventure along a section of the Rio Laja Trail that is usually under water!  We’ll walk, talk and look for birds and other wildlife as we make our way to the bridge in Cieneguita.  The trip is approximately 4.7 miles of flat terrain, although we may find dense shrubbery to navigate. We’ll stop for gorditas at a super reputable roadside stand before catching a municipal bus back to our starting point.  Limited to 10 participants.

    RSVP audubondemexico@gmail.com

SATURDAY, MARCH 21 – Reconnecting with Las Cachinches Arroyo

Audubon de Mexico and Toniclab Architecture will be co-hosting a guided walk and visioning workshop with cultural ecologist, Joaquin Murrieta, along Las Cachinches arroyo to inspire leadership and commitment to the ecological revitalization and human enjoyment of this important urban waterway.  Because of limited space, this is an invitational event, but we are planning future public tours and activities along Las Cachinches.

    SATURDAY, MARCH 21 –  Mayan Ceremony Presa Allende  – 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm / $

Ceremonies will take place on the water and on the shore around a fire.  You may participate in one or both ceremonies, reservations requested by March 20.     More details here>>
