  • This GivingTuesday, also known as, UnDiaParaDarMX in Mexico, Feed the Hungry San Miguel  will inspire generosity by distributing 500 food pantries in needy rural communities. The 35-year-old NGO is also inviting its social media community to participate in “24-Hours of Gratitude” by posting one thing they are grateful for. They also offer an opportunity to purchase art and a cook book with 100% of the sales of these items donated to buy food to feed entire families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world.

GivingTuesday will kick off the season of generosity season by inspiring people to give back on December 1, 2020, and throughout the year.

Feed the Hungry participates in GivingTuesday because they want to be able to continue to buy nutritious food for pantries gifted to more than 4,000 families in the San Miguel de Allende.  Together with NGOs Casita Linda, Mujeres en Cambio, Caminos de Agua, Casa Hogar Mexiquito, Casa Hogar Santa Julia, IREE, EEESMA, and  Centro Infantil de los Angeles,  they work together to alleviate suffering. In the past 8 months, they have provided more than 60,000 food pantries, allowing families to generate over 6 million meals at home. This emergency response operation is mostly supported by donations, and costs as much as $130,000 dollars per month.

“Our efforts to create awareness and spread kindness in our community are endless. Every day, we are helping thousands of families put food on their table, and on December 1, we want to give you an opportunity to join us virtually as we will be live-streaming distribution of 500 food pantries delivered in the communities. Whether you donate to Feed the Hungry, or a charity of your choice, make this day stand out and start the holiday season with a giving heart. It doesn’t take much to show someone that you care,” says Al Kocourek, president of Feed the Hungry.

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. The movement strives to build a world in which the catalytic power of generosity is at the heart of the society we build together, unlocking dignity, opportunity, and equity around the globe.

“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day, but throughout the year,” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”
