Sketching Fast & Loose
with Rhoda Draws
Whether you live here year-round, part-time, or just coming for a visit, sketching the people, places and things of San Miguel will enhance your appreciation of this amazing town. Learn to sketch what you see around you, boldly and quickly! Create impressions of your travels that are much more meaningful than photographs.
Grasp the basics of perspective as you sketch a row of colonial buildings receding down a cobblestone street. Simplify the ornate details on the Parroquia and other monumental buildings. Create the illusion of depth with some simple rules.
Capture the essence of that couple chatting in a cafe, the young woman on a bench enjoying an ice cream, the shoe-shine man serving his customer in El Jardin.
Learn to loosen your grip on accuracy, in favor of improvisation! Great for beginners, as well as experienced sketchers who want to loosen up.
Each session includes ample demonstrations and individual coaching. We meet at 10:30 am at the designated location, and sketch until 1:00 pm, finishing up with a display of sketch books and a gentle critique.
