Immerse yourself in beautiful San Miguel de Allende where we will explore the city, visit galleries and craft mercados, take an excursion to Cañada de la Virgin, pyramid site, and get creative in the studio.

The 5 day monoprint workshop gives you the opportunity to use your inspiration and create unique one-of-a-kind prints. The workshop is for all levels of expertise and encourages playfulness and exploration of ideas. Monoprint, often referred to as ‘the painterly print’, is created with ink on a plate versus etched or scribed into the surface and can range from abstract to figurative.

After demonstrations in a range of techniques, individual attention is given to each artist to pull professional quality prints. We will cover additive (painting on the plate with brushes, rollers, etc), subtractive – applying ink with a roller or brayer and wiping or drawing by removing the ink with a tool, multiple drop color printing, non-toxic photo transfer, and much more!

Schedule for the Art Vacation:

Day 1, Friday March 27 – Arrive & get settled into your San Miguel accommodations.
Day 2, Saturday March 28 – Orientation & Tour of Centro, visiting galleries, shops and mercados to get aquainted with the city. Welcome cocktails at sunset.
Day 3, Sunday March 29 – Excursion to Cañada de la Virgin, an Otomi pyramid site with archeologist guide.
Day 4, Monday March 30 – First Day in the Print Studio, 9-2pm – Introduction & Demonstrations, Begin printing.
Day 5, Tuesday March 31 – Demonstration & Printing, 9-2pm
Day 6, Wednesday April 1 – Demonstration & Printing, , 9-2pm
Lunch & Visit to Fabrica Aurora Art & Design Center (Gallery Tour).
Day 7, Thursday April 2 – Printing, 9-2pm
Day 8, Friday April 3 – Printing, 9-2pm
Day 9, Saturday April 4 – Last day Printing, 9-2pm
Day 10, Sunday April 5 – Depart

Includes all inks and materials plus one full sheet of 22″ x 30″ paper. Additional paper available for purchase in the workshop.

Does not include meals, airfare or accommodations. I can send you my recommendations. Fly into Leon, Queretaro, or Mexico City – all require a bus/shuttle to San Miguel.
